See the pasted installer's log file here: I deleted the Sierra installation file from Applications then downloaded it again but declined to run it when prompted (instead I chose Quit I'm not going to run it until I learn more about this problem). I chose the 10.7.5 volume from the Choose Startup disk dialog and booted back into 10.7.5 so my client could continue to work. ![]() I rebooted again and it again it took me to the Sierra installation dialog with a gray Install button. After 10 minutes of nothing, I quit again and chose Disk Utility from the post-boot menu and ran Repair, which fixed corruption on the main partition and parent partition. I quit the installation app via the pull-down Quit option, then rebooted, but it returned to the same screen, except this time the Install button was gray. Nothing seemed to happen after this: no progress bar, no new text on the dialog box, no popup (I checked behind the dialog and also clicked "bring all to front" from a menu-bar pull-down menu) - nothing. After clicking agree etc., I clicked the "Install" button, which was black then became gray. I also backed up everything to an external USB drive using TimeMachine.Īfter initiating the installation of Sierra from the large dialog that appears once the download finishes, the Mac rebooted into another installation screen. Before downloading and running the Sierra installer, I deleted cache files, startup items, old internet plugins and some old apps, and also ran Disk Utility Very without errors. This morning I worked on a new client's MacBook Pro Retina (2012), 8G RAM, 256G SSD (half free). Before posting here, I searched the web for fixes to Sierra installation problems, but I the answers I found didn't help. ![]()
